Ready to move on to the next music learning level?
What is HoloMusic XP?
HoloMusic XP is the first system based on mixed reality and gamification that teaches theoretical and practical concepts of music and piano, based on the musical notation system, to facilitate the learning aimed at interpreting real music scores. This system does not seek to replace the traditional methods but to complement them to improve the learning experience and help the student. Our goal is to smooth the initial learning curve in the early stages and motivate the student. HoloMusic XP is not only focused on students who are learning, but also on those people who have always wanted to play an instrument but are not motivated to take the step of learning.
Mixed reality and gamification
One of the most important characteristics of the mixed reality is that it allows to visualize abstract concepts thus opening ways to explore new and more effective teaching methods. As a result, it is possible to represent music in a more intuitive way, being able not only to hear it but also to watch it. On the other hand, the use of gamification helps to capture the attention and motivates the student in the learning process. The result of combining the advantages of both techniques and a musical didactic approach gives rise to a powerful tool that allows to discover innovative ways to really motivate people who want to learn music.
Current state of the project
HoloMusic XP is in a phase in which there is already a software prototype that has been tested with students and teachers of the Miguelturra School of Music with very positive results. The first milestone reached was the design, development and initial validation of HoloMusic XP. This work represented the thematic as a Final Degree Project, graded with Honours and awarded with the best Final Degree Project 2017/2018 prize by the Indra professorship.
